Petrofield Industries Inc.

Overview

Petrofield Industries Inc. is a manufacturing company based in Alberta, Canada focused primarily on oilfield equipment. Petrofield has been in business since 1985 and currently has 50 employees building equipment in 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The Company’s two operating divisions are Tornado Hydrovacs and Empire Cutting.

Petrofield became part of the Empire group of companies in November 2007. In 2009 the Company divested its Combustion division, and in 2010 ceased operations of its Process Equipment division due to significantly reduced activity in the sector.

Hydrovacs

Petrofield operates its Tornado Hydrovac division out of Stettler, AB. Tornado Hydrovacs are widely recognized as the superior hydro-excavators in the industry – respected for their extreme productivity, user-friendly design, and ultimate reliability.

Tornado has been refining the basic Hydrovac design over the past 10 years, establishing ourselves as manufacturer of the industry’s most trusted hydrovac. Customers put Tornado trucks through the most grueling conditions imaginable, and occasionally push them too far. A lot has been learned from those extreme tests, and Tornado has incorporated field proven requirements into truck design from – literally – the ground up. Hydrovacs are built to dig. Tornado Hydrovacs are built to dig the most.

Laser & Waterjet Cutting

Petrofield also operates Empire Cutting – a Laser/Waterjet Cutting facility in Calgary, AB. Empire Cutting offers drafting and cutting options from the smallest one-off custom projects (such as business signs) to large, repeat orders for major industrial manufacturers (every part is exact). Empire Cutting has established itself as the leader in the local industry. Client feedback repeatedly point to our superior service, attention to detail and the highest quality final product.

Laser cutting describes the process of using an industrial laser to precisely cut flat sheet metal or structural/piping materials for a variety of final outputs. A computer reads CAD drawings to direct a laser-beam following a pre-set path. Cut materials are left with a high-quality surface finish and edge. Compared to traditional cutting methods, laser cutting delivers ultra-tight tolerances and eliminates the need for re-tooling. Laser cutting also means no physical contact and, therefore, no cutting edge which can become contaminated. It means extreme precision cuts.

Waterjetting provides many of the same benefits as laser cutting, including the bonus of having no affected heat zone. With laser cutting there is reduced warping of material (over traditional steel cutting) as lasers have a very small heat affected zone. Waterjetting has zero. By efficiently laying out drawings to use every possible square inch of sheet metal, customers receive maximum quantity end-product. And Empire Cutting has one of the only laser table stack towers in Alberta capable of automatically changing sheets to save customer’s further time and money. Drafting assistance is always available for client drawings.
